What is Green Machine?

The Green Machine is affiliated with First Robotics Competition, an organization founded in 1989 to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology.  The students are challenged to design, build, and program a robot to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors.

The Green Machine team was able to acquire both NASA and Tinker Air Force Base as sponsors of the team.  Sponsorship is crucial to ensure adequate funding for expense of materials, competition registration, and travel for the team.

Students meet twice weekly during classtime and devote several evening hours designing and building their robot.  Students on the robotics team take on the roles of CAD designers, programmers, electricians, pneumatic engineers, and carpenters as well as marketing specialists, webmasters, photographers, videographers, and news reporters.

The 2014 First Robotics Regional Competition will be held in March at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.  Qualifying teams will compete at First Tech Challenge World Championship in St. Louis, MO April 23-26, 2014.
